In Memory of Max

Dear BCCR: This is my little Max . . . I know my entry for the Chihuahua Sunbathing Contest is too late, but I wanted to tell you about him. Max passed away on November 28th, 2003 after having been my companion for 17 yrs. His beginning in life (a rescue from a nasty breeder) was challenging, but in his recovery he met every challenge stoically and triumphed. Max traveled absolutely everywhere with me and was introduced to more flight crew and captains than most human passengers. Everyone who met him . . . loved him. He was just this gentle little 4 lb. soul whose sweet and oh so contented personality reached out with a warm, silky tongue to all who needed a little sunshine in their day. And Max loved the sun in a big way. . . all day he wandered through the house following the sunbeams, which (once found) he would stand in waiting for me to bring his favorite blanket and there he would curl up . . . basking in every delicious warm moment he could get. The last few years resulted in his vision being impaired . . . so the sunbeams became increasingly important . . . he could "feel" them and he loved that. This scene was a typical day for him - - wherever we were.
I wish you all could have met him, but I know that each of you has likely experienced the joy of having friend(s) like him. He was an absolute gift in my life and now I truly hope he's found a permanent beam in a place where he can be pain free . . . and actually see where he's going :-). I love you Max, your Mom . . .
