Our first priority is to have the dog formally surrendered to BCCR,
then have it assessed by a veterinarian. At the same time, we will
arrange immediate foster care for the dog in an approved foster setting.
Once the dog’s health is assessed, he/she will receive on-going treatment if necessary. We then work to place the Chihuahua in an approved adoptive home. We want a good match for the dog, and assess our adoption applications accordingly. We screen for safety in the home, compatibility and lifestyle of the prospective owner. If the applicant has other pets, we will contact the
applicant's veterinarian to ensure that the other pets have been receiving quality health care and that the applicant is responsible.
